What is Brno Brass Fest?
Brno Brass Fest is the only international brass festival in the Czech Republic, founded in 2021 by Prokoncert. The festival specialises in brass music and all the programming takes place in Brno. The festival continues the tradition of playing brass instruments in Moravia, gives opportunities to contemporary top soloists and ensembles and brings world phenomena to the Brno cultural scene. The date of the Brno Brass Fest has been fixed for mid-June. For the year 2025, specifically on 12-16 June 2025.
Who can I look forward to?
The festival features soloists, orchestras and bands of various genres - classical music, jazz, Balkan brass band, but of course brass bands and other mainstream genres. The link, as the name of the festival suggests, is brass instruments - trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba and related instruments.
How does the festival work?
Concert activities are the main focus, but the festival devotes a significant part of its activities to education, various jam sessions, shows and musical curiosities. Several concerts are free for the audience (Saturday's programme on Svoboda Square or the programme on the stage at the Brno dam), other programmes can be bought online.
Why Brno Brass Fest?
Brno Brass Fest is an opportunity for meeting and exchange of artistic and listening experience. The festival brings to Brno artists of high quality from abroad, but especially from the Czech Republic. In 2023, the festival has focused primarily on the domestic scene to support local artists and the economy. In 2024, the Brno Brass Fest team managed to attract the phenomenal German Brass ensemble to Brno, which performed at the closing concert on 16 June in the courtyard of Špilberk Castle.
